Global Methane Emission Unlikely to Fall in 2023

Global emissions of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, are not expected to fall this year, according to the head of energy and environmental geo-analytics company Kayrros, specializing in global emissions detection. While it is still too early to give a definitive answer to the extent of the methane emissions problem for 2023, CEO Antoine Rostand tells Energy Intelligence he “doesn’t see a downward trend” or any downswing this year that would be compatible with the Global Methane Pledge, which aims to reduce methane emissions by 30% by 2030 versus 2020 levels.
